Now, we are quite proud to be able to show you a video of the show. You should take a look at it

Big thank you to Sebbe, since he cut it.
And for the really fast ones out there, there is a PAL version on yousendit.com. It`s only available for the next seven days though! https://download.yousendit.com/TTZsUXVoZ1A0b0JFQlE9PQ

During our last stay in Dubai we came up with another great idea, that we thought through to the last detail. Here we go…
Due to the fact that if you work long hours, there is not really a lot of free time left and if you still insist on having some time to chill out or do things, that are actually good for you such as taking a shower, eating or god forbid… do something fun, you end up all surprised when you look at your watch and discover that oooops, there are only three ours left for sleeping. Now since all three factors should have an equal standing in your every day life but the option of cutting down your working hours is not really an option, and you do not, by any means want to cut down on your free time and sleeping is not a point of discussion either because you need it – we thought of:
The 36-hour-day!!!
The 36 hour day would solve all our problems. Working 16 hours wouldn’t be a problem at all, you would still have enough time to do things for yourself and would then be able to sleep a relaxed 8-10 hours.
With the rest of the universe still living with the 24-hour system, we would of course have to consider some days being dark – for example Tuesdays… or all even dates… or so… but who cares if they get enough sleep?
Nights are overrated anyways. The 24-hour system is actually old and very unmodern since nowadays rules that applied in history such as: „at night there is no light so we can’t do anything anyways – so we just go to sleep“ or „at night we have to go inside because we have to hide from all the wild animals“ – just don’t count anymore. In case you haven’t noticed, we have electricity and light whenever we want it, globalization and time zones lead to a shift of timings in general anyways.
We think in the current times, we should not adapt to the rules of night and day as they were invented back then because there was no other choice. No - the day should actually adapt to our needs!
There is another advantage – counting with the 24-hour system you would now have three days weekend, although…. naaaaw for that I guess the old rule applies… weekends – what is that?
Anyways, if you would like to join us in shaking the pillars of the world again, let us know. We are also open to other suggestions such as the 28-hour-day or the 72-hour day. We could also invent different time groups, meaning, if you have a lot to do with Japan, why not live according to their timings (of course in the 36-, 28- or the 72 hour day, which Jens actually prefers ![]()
If you don’t like it… we will call you during OUR working hours all right!?
It is done :-). We did mention that this year, we produced the presentations in the cinema of the Microsoft exhibition stand. According to official surveys there were 25% less exhibitors this year. How many visitors stayed at home this year, I can´t really say but it must be a LOT. Some of the halls were so deserted that you were actually asking yourself, if the exhibition had already started. Hall 4 was different. Especially us – the guys of the cinema crew - could not complain about too few visitors, on the contrary. During the weekend you were hardly able to move anywhere close to the cinema. For all those, who could not make it to the CeBIT this year, here is a summary of how the presentations looked this year.
This year we worked with 12 light barriers and tried a complete new navigation. The result is quite impressive even though it needed some adapting to in the beginning but I will go into details about this one in my next entry.
In addition to the actual presentation in the cinema (This year there were twelve of them), we produced an agenda for the cinema,
an agenda for the Microsoft Business presentations and a live animation of the Microsoft network within the exhibition stand. Besides an overview, we zoomed into particular machines and the live screens of the respective servers were shown. For this graphic and and also in the cinema we used VGA capture cards for the first time (12 pieces). We captured up to four different input signals on one PC.

THANKS again to everyone involved. And special thanks to Martin (he knows why … )
Sometimes, in the web (or also in the real world) I stumble over things that I find really remarkable. Since a blog entry of one sentence or a single URL doesn’t really look that impressive, I have included a twitter box on the right side where I can post everything that I need to say without having to do a blog entry.
I first saw this on Boris’ blog (www.dreisechzig.net) and of course I instantly wanted to have this as well
Since even the best kept secrets have to be revealed one day – here we go – follow us into the world of Qatar Railways…
This following project to the presentation we did for Deutsche Bahn last October, was now supposed to present the outcome of a five-months-study by Deutsche Bahn. The presentation explained in detail, how a completely integrated railway system could be built and function for the state of Qatar. An entire exhibition hall was built and over 100 people from over five different companies from Germany were flown over to work on the project for months. ![]()
The project took us so far into the content, that we could actually build the railway ourselves by now.
Instead we built a really cool presentation that was packed with awesome 3D object (thanks again to Gizmo and Tom, who really can’t see our faces anymore by now… see you in Dubai… ;-)
We were really eager to finally show the presentation to none less than the Emir of Qatar but… he had other plans… and then we waited… and then we went home… and then we went back to Qatar again… to wait some more… and then
… he came!

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad yesterday visited the Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company.
HH the Emir and HH Sheikha Mozah were accompanied by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and a number of senior officials.
During the visit, HH the Emir was briefed on the steps and phases of carying out a railway project in Qatar.
The project aims to link Doha with other towns in Qatar as well as with Bahrain and other GCC states for transporting passengers and goods. – QNA
The whole event was a great success and although it was quite strenuous to all involved – we all know, the best friends are made in the worst times.
Thanks to everyone. Kai, we are waiting for the next jobs…
more impressions behind the Scenes follow here:
This, you could call the control room for… everything. All in all there were 9 Ventuz systems involved.
This was going to become the entrance tunnel, not an easy job! You thought rear projection??? Far from it. And since the FRONT projectors were shooting from top and from the bottom, and all of that in a round tunnel, I was quite happy that this one wasn`t on our list… because there were MANY projectors.
Here you see Sven. And in order for him to not get confused with all those monitors, we put numbers - he`s really good with numbers!!!
As we said, only for this presentation, they built an entire new hall that was transformed into a presentation center. Considering some of the exhibition centers and event venues in Germany, especially the ones from the late 70s and 80s, I wish things like that could be considered in Germany once in a while.
And every day is a school day. If you don´t have enough time to build in the A/Cs, just put them in front of the door.
This was the inside, before they made it the presentation center. All the equipment and technical was completely flown in from Germany.
Right
Here is the tunnel, a little later.
Admittedly not the biggest seamless wall we ever did but still nice. But please don´t believe it if someone says they can configure this thing in a way that you will get a homogeneously color coded surface. There are some things in our universe, that are just not possible…
The fantastic four, Maik, Jens, Julia and Ben (left to right). Note the visionary facial expressions!
And again, the tunnel – a few days later. But I had already thought that the thing with the tunnel would take a little longer. Ah, by the way, it took the Emir about 12 seconds to go through it.
We discovered that our Wordpress refused to send emails out with the result that people who registered didn’t get an email with the password. And this way we also got no info regarding comments in order for us to air them. (A big thanks to Ralf for this info).
However, we changed that and by now you should be able to write comments without having to register. Comments will still be checked manually and then aired.
So if you want to put in your two cents – go ahead!
Today I am opening a new category and I´ll call it INSPIRE. I could also call it “shit, why didn´t I think of this” or “I wish that was my idea”
doesn`t matter – here we go, my starter for this category:
If you are doing events and shows with Ventuz and if someone should ever ask you to project on a building – this one is an absoulte MUST!!
not that I think that somebody would actually be interested in this, but this is our standard stereolize wallpaper. And somehow I have really gotten used to it.
And I am posting this because I am constantly looking for this thing and never know, where I can possibly find it. That´s why I am posting it here, on the blog, so I always know where to find it.
