All right, all right, we were lazy, at least regarding this Blog. However, tons of things have happened in the meantime and today we are shoveling the piled-up news out into the blog.

First of all - Ventuz-news:

There is a new Ventuz version.

Her name is ventuz 2008 and there may not be soooo many improvements as expected. BUT… looks are not everything and when it comes to character, there seem to be quite a few novelties. It seems that the new 2008 version might be a good base for new features in the following releases. Ventuz rumors are that shortly a roadmap will be published, telling us when we can expect which improvements. Hear, hear!!! Timetables!!!

There is also a new structure of products. The basic version doesn’t exist anymore. Instead, there is now an express version that has just about the same limitations as the basic with the profound difference that it is for free. A reason for rejoicing should also be the new price structure. The Designer got a little more expensive, however the price for the Presenter was cut by about 50%. For the first time the prices have been published on the website. I have never seen such thing on other websites like vizrt, watchout or others. Congratulations to the new transparency. Ventuz rumors are that shortly, even a roadmap will be published, telling us when we can expect which improvements. Hear, hear!!! Timetables!!!

We are very happy that we were given the opportunity to create the new Ventuz design and the new CI. Please send flowers, congratulations and exuberant comments to me. Criticism goes to spamfilter@stereolize.com where it will be carefully analyzed, discussed internally and taken into consideration for future Ventuz design development. Honestly!

A new Ventuz website

Web stuff is usually not our scope of work but we made an exception and since we were the glorious ones who developed the new logo and the new design, we though it would be kinda stupid to have some other agency that also doesn’t have a clue about design, ruin our great CI. As we always say… if you want something to be done the right way, do it yourself!

There are new Ventuz Dongles


Hooray, there are new ventuz dongles. Everyone who knows the old ones (and I don’t mean the very old ones but the ones after that) knows why this is a reason for rejoicing. And since even Maik has been working with a new dongle for several weeks now and didn’t manage to wreck it yet, we have empirical proof that they are actually good for something and don’t give up so easily.

Recently the new Ventuz dongles have arrived. But since the old dongles were content with breaking down while taking them into the hand or putting them on the ground softly (yes and ok, sometimes by falling on the ground), the new Ventuz dongles come with an amazing new feature. The allready break down if you look at them, and respectively if you don’t look at them often  enough. Or they just don’t like my face.

Anyway they just break down for no reason. Sometimes only for a few seconds and sometimes forever. Nevertheless the old one’s had to be “touched” in a way for this to happen, the new one’s obviously not. Even installing them inside the pc does not protect them anymore from malfunctioning.

Basically I wouldn’t have a big problem with that, if there wasn’t another new development for safety (probably since version 4.4). Until now it was possible to remove the dongle after a presentation had been started and the presentation was still running perfectly. (This was kind of a safety function, if the dongle should break down during a running show/presentation) So now if you remove the dongle after the presentation was started it will stand still and it can also not be reactivated by inserting the dongle again. You have to wait 15 minutes before you can remove it without any danger. (The comprehendible idea behind this was the fact that so far it was possible to start 30 presentations with only one presenter dongle, which was not what the software producers had in mind. - That’s why this is not so easy any more. To start 30 presentations you would now need 8 hours)

As long as the dongles would function correctly, I wouldn’t have a problem with that - but they don’t. And it’s only a matter of time for such a dongle to malfunction during a running show/presentation.

So before going about any new features this problem should be solved. For the future you better turn away your face while inserting the dongle.

Something seems to be wrong with the name Ventuz. It looks like nobody is using it willingly. Meaning they use the software but not the name. I noticed the following phenomenon, among some companys working with ventuz. Everybody behaves like he just invented a revolutionary software, not telling anybody how he realizes his projects. The "revolutionary" software is then called Eventmaster or Soft FX. In Dubai I got to know three companys that work with Ventuz but don’t admit to do so. It’s kind of a shame to get a Ventuz license and to put the whole thing as a new software solution on the homepage afterwards. Especially when the pictures shown are stolen from the Ventuz website (Guess you didn’t ask for permission to use these pictures).
